Oscar Muñoz was born
in Popayan, Columba in 1951. Ever since he was a child, he showed an interest
in drawing, which became his favorite thing to do. over the past three decades,
Oscar Muñoz has been producing works that investigate the nature of
representation and the relationship between image and memory. In the
twelve-part work of the game of
probabilities, which examines self-portraiture, the artist has woven
fragments from six of his own indentify photographs into twelve different
configurations, then rephotgraphed them. the black and white and color identity
photographs, which were made over a number of years for official documents such
as passports and drivers licenses. Highlight the physical transformation of the
artist, suggesting identity infinite mutations and the limations of photography
in representing human likeness. I happened to really enjoy this piece of art. I
thought it was really cool how he used himself in his own photography. I liked
how he incorporated his artsy side within the picture. I love how he used black
and white and color. I also really like how he combined all different parts of
the pictures, which was really interesting to me.
Stephen was born on October 8th 1947. He is an
American photographer. Ever since his was younger, he had an interest In
photography because his uncle had given him a 35mm camera which lead to him
taking his first picture. He then received the book written by Walker Evan, and
from that moment on, he wanted to be a photographer. He first started using a
35 mm camera then moved to a 4 x 5 and then finally to 8 x 10 formatted camera.
He produced a book of pictures which was called Uncommon places which was then
considered the book to have for every single photographer, who shot in color.
The images in the museum show the range of shore’s accomplishments from early
conceptual experiments in black and white in the late 1960’s, to his pioneering
color works of the 1970’s, to the current project in Ukraine about holocaust
survivors. In the early 1970’s shore embarked on a series of road trips across
the united states. He made color photographs along the ways, shooing ordinary
American scenes, such as disheveled motel bedrooms, road sign billboards and
gas stations. The result was two significant bodies of work. Shore uses color
to record the imagine and intensity of hues seen in the making photographs that
celebrate poetry. I focused on the Merced river photograph. I thought it was
really cool how he just went to any river and took this photo. I think that the
scenery is amazing with the background of all the trees and the mountains. I
love how he captured the people in the river doing things. I love it because it
looks like such a peaceful place and I would love to go there.
